The three thrust areas of FRLHT’s work are: exposition of the theory & practice of traditional systems of medicine; conservation of the natural resources used by Indian systems of medicine and revitalization of social processes for transmission of the knowledge on a size and scale that will have societal impact. (See www.frlht.org for profile of FRLHT’s current programs). In 2008 FRLHT has designed a new intervention viz Indian Institute for Ayurveda and Integrated Medicine (IAIM)

To design and implement high quality, innovative education, research and clinical service programs on Ayurveda and Integrative medicine on a size and scale that will have social impact.

IAIM fervently believes that the country’s traditional healthcare systems have enormous contemporary relevance and therefore must occupy their rightful space alongside other health systems that are available to the Indian and global community. For this to happen key interventions are needed in medical education clinical research & surgery. With the support of the research and knowledge orientation of FRLHT, IAIM will take the lead in expanding the scope of Ayurvedic education & surgery. IAIM will initiate MS and PhD programs in "Integrative Health Sciences". It will be guided by the holistic principles of the traditional health sciences, use traditional pedagogic concepts, cutting edge IT tools & an epistemologically informed inter-face with bio medical sciences.
